Maintaining Your Vehicle's Air Conditioning System

Maintaining Your Vehicle's Air Conditioning System

Summer in Wisconsin means warm weather and high humidity, which can be tough on your vehicle's cooling system. It's important to keep your car's cooling system in good shape to prevent overheating and expensive repairs. We know it can be really frustrating when your air conditioning doesn't work on hot days. However, please don't use Freon kits from local stores. These kits can make repairs more expensive. Most Freon cans have Stop Leak, which can clog your A/C system. The Stop Leak is meant to fix leaks, but it often ends up blocking all the A/C parts, leading to more extensive and costly repairs. If you feel like your A/C is not working properly give us a call! At Bob’s Main Street Auto & Towing we’re here to help keep your vehicle in great running condition all year around! Stay cool on the road this summer

Why is my air conditioning not working?

Why is my air conditioning not working?

As you get ready to plan those trips for Memorial Day Weekend that is fast approaching; do not wait until then to try your air conditioning systems! If you turn your A/C on and it’s not blowing cold, find out before it’s needed! The vehicle’s A/C system could be blowing warm air due to several possible causes.      Low Refrigerant Levels: The most common reason for an AC system not blowing cold air is low refrigerant levels. The refrigerant is what cools the air that is circulated into the cabin of the car. If there's a leak anywhere in the AC system, the refrigerant level can drop, resulting in warm air. Faulty Compressor: The compressor is the heart of your vehicle's air conditioning system. It circulates the refrigerant necessary for heat exchange through the system's components. If the compressor is not working properly, it won't be able to pump the refrigerant through the system effectively. Clogged or Dirty Condenser ... read more

Why is my car leaking water?

Why is my car leaking water?

During the heart of summer it can be normal for our vehicles to have minimal water puddles underneath them. When we see a puddle our first thing is to think "oh no"! During the hot summer months and running our vehicle's air conditioning system, it is very normal to have a small puddle of water under the back area of the vehicle. The water that is leaking from the vehicle is condensation from the air conditioning system or sometimes the exhaust system. Give us a call at either three of our convenient locations and we will be happy to assist you if you feel your vehicle may be leaking something other than water.

Why is my vehicle heater blowing cold?

Why is my vehicle heater blowing cold?

As it has been bitter cold here in Wisconsin the last thing we want is no heat. There is a few reasons that can cause the vehicles heat to blow cold. Some repairs are a little easier then others. The vehicles coolant level being low can cause the vehicle blow cold air. The coolant in the engine does not just work to keep the engine from overheating. It is also the source of heat supporting the heating system. Another issue could be the thermostat not working correctly. When the thermostat can not signal the engine being warm, the coolant won't be passed over to provide heat to the heater core and the air will blow cold. Heater cores are cooling system that look like little radiators. They are made up of little metal tubing that carries the hot coolant in and out. It is not the best time to have cold air blowing on us. If you feel your heat is not working to your standards call us today. We will be happy to assist you with getting your heat running in tip top shape.&nb ... read more

Why is my car blowing warm air?

Why is my car blowing warm air?

As we had a week of warm weather here in Wisconsin, most of us tried our air conditioning in our vehicles. If you noticed your car is blowing warm air instead of nice cool air; there could be a couple issues. One of the most common causes for the air conditioning system to blow warm air is a lack of refrigerant in the system. Other issues may be within the vehicles condenser, compressor, broken cooling fans, or even an issue with the electrical system. We need that air cool for the warm summer days to come. Call us today to schedule a time to inspect your air conditioning system.
